KP Takes the Global Stage at COP 29

The Conference of Parties (COP) is the UN’s premier global platform for climate negotiations, bringing together governments, businesses, and civil society to drive climate action. Recognising its importance, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) engaged in COP29 to highlight its commitment to sustainability and climate action. The province focused on showcasing its green initiatives, including afforestation, watershed management, and clean energy projects, while exploring carbon market opportunities and fostering public-private partnerships.

SEED provided technical assistance to the Government of KP (GoKP) in preparing for COP29, supporting the design of key sessions and engagement strategies to effectively present the province’s climate achievements and future plans. This engagement contributed to key policy developments, including the proposal for a Climate Action Board to institutionalise climate governance in KP. The discussions at COP29 also helped lay the groundwork for strengthening private sector collaboration and leveraging carbon finance to scale green initiatives.
