Peshawar Clean Air Alliance

Uniting for Cleaner Air in Peshawar

The Peshawar Clean Air Alliance (PCAA) is a volunteer-led network of over 150 members working to improve air quality in Peshawar. With SEED’s support, PCAA has strengthened its advocacy, gathering 17,000+ signatures on a petition calling for stronger action on air pollution. The Alliance has also partnered with the Bank of Khyber to install air quality monitors, launched a website to provide real-time air quality data, and conducted groundbreaking studies on pollution and its health impacts. Key research, including Peshawar’s first city-level air pollution study, has informed government policies and interventions for tackling air pollution.

SEED has been instrumental in shaping PCAA’s strategy, strengthening its monitoring network, and driving research and policy advocacy. It has supported major initiatives, including a policy brief for the Government of KP, an MOU with the Northwest General Hospital to study air pollution’s health effects, and collaborations with IQAir and the Pakistan Air Quality Initiative (PAQI) to ensure long-term sustainability. With SEED’s support, PCAA is making air quality data accessible, informing policies, and building momentum for cleaner air in Peshawar.
