KP Business voice

Overview

KP Business Voice is designed to create a Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) mechanism so the provincial economic policy is informed by the business community. The program has a three-pronged strategy:

  • To articulate the issues faced by the private sector
  • To frame these in the right context of prescriptive policy
  • To advocate these policy prescriptions with government stakeholders.

Progress

The main feature for this intervention are four barometer surveys to assess the investment climate and business environment in the private sector. The findings from the surveys shall feed into consolidated policy recommendations to be shared with the KP Finance Minister on behalf of the SCCI.
The first barometer survey was completed in August and the report launched in September. The occasion was marked with an MoU between SCCI and SEED for future collaboration, such as the post-budget roundtable on Provincial and Federal Budgets FY-22. The event was chaired by Secretary Finance and had around 20 representatives from SCCI. The report based on this was made public in October 2021.

Barometer surveys

Subsequently, the second and third business barometer surveys have also been launched, while the last one is underway. To promote open dialogue between the public and private sector, a number of public-private dialogues have also been organized by SEED and SCCI.

  1. Roundtable on Pre-Budget Fiscal Policy Proposals for the GoKP
  2. Consultative Session on Developing KP’s Agri-Business Value Chains
  3. Consultative Session on Transforming the Tourism Industry in KP

The recommendations of these consultative sessions have been presented to the relevant government counterparts in the shape of policy notes.
