A CLEANER AND HEALTHIER AIR ENVIRONMENT IN PESHAWAR
SEED is supporting this Alliance to build a consensus on lowering the Air Quality Index score substantially and sustainably for the Peshawar district and its surrounding areas. With a vision statement and a draft work plan, the Alliance has collected over 17,000 signatures on an online petition jointly filed by SEED and PCAA. Currently, three high-quality monitors set up by PCAA, are collecting data on air quality in Peshawar.
The SEED Programme and Peshawar Clean Air Alliance (PCAA) signed an MOU with The Bank of Khyber to procure and install air quality monitors on its selected branches throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These will become part of PCAA’s monitoring network, and the data will be available at https://pcaakp.org.
Website, research studies & workshops
SEED intends to further enhance PCAA through an active media campaign, workshops, and seminars to build a consensus on policy reforms and mobilising investment in air pollution mitigation. The EPA, Health Department, Peshawar municipal government, and business leaders will be part of the consensus.
The following activities have been carried out to further enhance PCAA:
Development of a website (visit website) and social media pages (facebook, twitter) for PCAA on the impact of air quality in Peshawar and KP.
Northwest General Hospital and Research Centre (NWGH) and the Peshawar Clean Air Alliance (PCAA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly address air pollution in Peshawar on 5th June, 2023 on the occasion of World Environment Day.
