Energy Carbon Market Inventory
Harnessing KP’s Energy Potential
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is rich in renewable energy resources, with 25 GW of Pakistan’s hydropower capacity (42%) and 634,600 MW of solar potential (22%). The Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) is working to harness this clean energy potential through hydropower and solar projects, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions and positioning KP as a key player in global climate action.
With SEED’s support, the KP Energy Department and PEDO are conducting a Carbon Asset Inventory to assess how KP’s energy projects can benefit from carbon credits and renewable energy certificates. By creating a structured system for carbon credit and renewable energy transactions, KP can attract investment, fund future clean energy projects, and strengthen its role as a leader in sustainable energy and climate action.
