KP Climate Action Board

Strengthening Climate Governance

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is taking a big step forward in tackling climate change with the Climate Action Board. Established under the Climate Action Board Act, 2025, this independent body will lead the province’s climate efforts, ensuring smooth decision-making and better coordination between government departments, the private sector, and development partners. Chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary, the Board will drive key initiatives, including climate policy development, greenhouse gas inventories, resource mobilisation, and trading in carbon markets. By making climate action a core part of development planning, the Board will help KP align with national and global climate goals.

SEED has been instrumental in shaping the governance structure and strategy for the Board. Once fully operational, this Board will ensure that KP’s climate response is effective, well-coordinated, and impactful, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
