Road Asset Management System

Smarter Road Management for a Better Future

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is improving how it plans, maintains, and manages its road infrastructure with the Road Asset Management System (RAMS). This advanced system includes custom-built software, an interactive dashboard, and integration with Highway Development and Management (HDM-4) tools. By using data-driven insights, RAMS will help reduce inefficiencies, cut unnecessary costs, and ensure smarter public investment in road maintenance. With structured planning, the system will extend the lifespan of roads, improve transport efficiency, and support long-term infrastructure sustainability.

SEED has played a vital role in making RAMS a reality. It supported the KP Communication & Works (C&W) Department in setting up the RAMS Unit (a team of specialists dedicated to running the RAMS), which is now fully operational, and helped draft a RAMS Policy to guide its long-term implementation. SEED also provided extensive capacity-building support to ensure government staff can effectively use and maintain the system. To make RAMS fully functional, a road condition survey covering 10,000 km is underway, providing the critical data needed to prioritise maintenance and ensure road investments deliver maximum impact.
