Technical Appraisal Checklist for PC-Is

Strengthening Infrastructure Planning

To ensure that infrastructure projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are technically sound, cost-effective, and sustainable, the province has introduced Technical Appraisal Checklists for roads, bridges, and buildings. These checklists provide a structured framework for evaluating project proposals, covering key aspects such as design specifications, cost estimates, environmental impact, and compliance with standards. By using these tailored tools, departments can streamline approvals, minimise design errors, and improve project quality, leading to safer and more resilient infrastructure.

SEED helped in developing these checklists, working with engineers, planners, and government officials to ensure they meet local needs. The checklists were carefully reviewed and refined through consultations with relevant departments. Since their introduction, they have been systematically applied to 31 new infrastructure projects, representing 28% of infrastructure projects approved under the Annual Development Program (ADP) in FY 2023-24. By embedding these structured evaluations into the planning process, SEED has helped KP enhance the efficiency and potential impact of public infrastructure investments.
